About us

Our Story
Kind Kitchen is a delicious offshoot of Kind Communities. Since we were established in early 2021, Kind Kitchen has become an important part of Preston’s communities.
Kind Kitchen was created to bring people together from all walks of life, with the aim of improving access to good food and a healthier way of life.
We operate targeted, practical cookery classes to encourage adults and children gain confidence in the kitchen, and help diabetics manage their illness through better diet and nutritional choices, and. We help parents and families navigate the cost-of-living crisis by teaching fundamental cooking skills and food budgeting, and run cookery workshops with vulnerable teenagers to help them develop cooking skills, particularly as they prepare to set up their own homes. Our classes operate from our base kitchen at Frenchwood School, as well as Preston College and community venues
Our base is Frenchwood Community School. The school motto is 'Together We Grow' and they have proved this by being a source of unstinting support and encouragement for our work.
Preston
We're based in the city of Preston in Lancashire.
Preston suffers disproportionately from high levels of deprivation, poor health/ life expectancy and high unemployment .
Preston is the 55th most deprived borough in England (out of 316). The city is amongst the 20% most deprived lower-tier local authorities within England.
We hope to address those inequalities, and make Preston a happier, healthier and kinder place for all communities.

We're a Food Hygiene 5* rated community kitchen and food hub. When you buy from us or attend our classes, you can be sure we're complying with the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
We take kitchen safety very seriously. All our team members hold appropriate Food Safety and Hygiene qualifications, and have current enhanced DBS checks. Our classes always contain at least one qualified First Aider. This means learners can concentrate on the job of learning.
We work with a wide network of people to support and complement what we do.
We also collaborate with organisations of all sizes, in the public, private and voluntary sectors, to maximise the effectiveness of our work.
Kind Kitchen has the most dedicated and charitable group of volunteers, to make a difference to the lives of those we work with.
